Our fieldtrip to Carsten Höller

Last week we’ve been to the BoijmansvanBeuningen museum in Rotterdam to check out the DividedDivided exhibition by Carsten Höller. We bumped into Attilia Maranzano, the official photographer of the exhibition and he could tell us some really interesting stories. For example about the birdcages in the picture on top. There are seven cages with all a quality Dutch canary, which sing a lot during spring to the ladybirds. Höller wanted the canaries to sing during the opening, which was February 6; not close to the spring. So he fooled the animals by putting a black cloth on their cages, and when the time for the exhibition came he shortened the time they were in the dark. So for the birds the days were becoming longer, spring was arriving and at the opening the canaries were singing loudly! Unfortunately the exhibition closed last week, so you can’t see it anymore. But you can see here all the pictures we made
