TS Research: Innovation in public spaces

February 22, 2010

Networking is big. Social networks on the internet are the essence of our creative future.

Almost all new strategies now happening on the internet are based on networking. We use open source, co-creation, peer to peer and crowd source strategies. These are all strategies for getting information, enlarging or knowledge or sharing ideas. For examples click here, here or here.

The internet is a public space, available for everyone, 24/7. It’s fast and easy in its communication and it’s dynamic. These are all positive qualities in which the physical world stays behind. Does the physical world need to change in order to keep up with the developments on the internet, or does it have other qualities the internet doesn’t have, that make it attractive in another way?

Do the social networks on the internet affect our physical world, and if they do, how? How does the networking take shape in our public spaces? This is what I want to do research about the next weeks.
